Matthew Wain Rager, 55, of Clarksville, Ohio, passed away on May 19, 2026, in Wilmington, Ohio.

Matthew earned his bachelor's degree from Chatfield College, an achievement that paved the way for a meaningful career. He devoted many years as a manager at Barnes and Noble, a role he cherished until he was forced to step down due to medical challenges. Beyond his professional endeavors, Matthew proudly served his country for three years in the United States Army, a testament to his commitment and sense of duty. He was a faithful member of the Clarksville Masonic Lodge, Lodge 323.

His passion for serving others extended into local governance, where he dedicated four years as a member of the Clarksville, Ohio Village Council. His contributions helped shape the community, reflecting his enduring dedication to public service.

Matthew is survived by his son, Gabriel Rager; his father, Harry Rager, and stepmother, Kathy Rager; and his sisters, Kelli Rager and Riley Edie. They remember him as a loving father and brother. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Stevens.

Matthew's passing leaves a heartfelt void among those who knew him. He will be remembered with respect and admiration by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
