Mary Ann Krumdieck (nee Schlueter) slipped into Eternal Rest on January 4, 2021. She was 92 years old. Born on March 3, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the only daughter of Dr. Elmer A. and Angeline Schlueter.
Mary Krumdieck was the beloved wife of the late Earl H. Krumdieck. She was the Beloved Mother of David (Mary Christine), Robert (Patricia), Mark (Denice), Molly (Joseph), Heidi (Michael), Lisa and Buzz (Mindy).
She treasured her role as Grandmother to Jon and Gretchen Krumdieck; Angela (William) Smith; Joseph (Becca) and Michael (the late Michelle) Krumdieck; Ashley (Kevin) Spetz; Jennifer (Rob) Mahon; the late Joseph Jr. and the late Nicholas Paganelli; Matthew (Danielle) Paganelli; Katherine (Everett) Johnson; Mary Ann, Caroline, and Patrick McAuliffe; and Jak, Eddie and Libby Krumdieck.
Her great-grandchildren include Cody and Zachary Smith, Emme Krumdieck, Lyla and Will Spetz, Audrey and Vera Mahon, Cassie and Joseph Paganelli, and Myah and Josie Johnson. Mary's large and much-loved extended family also included many nieces and nephews stretched across the country.
As a registered, licensed dietitian, Mary was a force in her profession, focusing on geriatric care. She was the president of the Ohio Consultants in Health Care Facilities and represented Ohio on the National Board of Consultants. She advocated for diet liberalization in nursing facilities in Ohio, a policy which is still intact today; spearheaded an effort to write and publish a workbook called "THE DINING SKILLS"; and provided expert recommendations to The Ohio Department of Health for the first set of regulations for Residential Care Facilities to the ensure that dietitians were overseeing the menus for nutritional adequacy. She especially enjoyed serving as a preceptor to many UC and Good Samaritan Hospital Dietetic Interns.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Mary was an avid bridge player, past President of the St. Xavier High School Mother's Club, an officer in the Finneytown Garden Club, volunteered with the Friend of the Orphans, and was a founding member of St. Vivian's Parish.
A graduate of Mount Notre Dame Academy and Our Lady of Edgecliff College of Cincinnati, Mary and her husband, Earl, supported many Catholic schools in Cincinnati, including St. Vivian's School, St. Xavier High School, St. Ursula Academy and Xavier University.
When she was not visiting her facilities or playing bridge, Mary enjoyed hosting her family and friends for holidays, dinner parties, and backyard gatherings and was an amazing hostess. Her family was her pride and joy, and she never hesitated to show off her wallet portfolio of family pictures! Her humor, big heart, and bright personality will be greatly missed.
