Mary Kathleen (Kathy) Hayes Herschede of Cincinnati, OH passed away in beauty and love at her home on Monday, August 5th, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 2, 1947 in St. Louis, MO. Kathy attended Seton High School. She graduated with a B.S. degree and M.A. in Education from Xavier University as well as a M.A. in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati. Kathy dedicated her life to helping others. She was a licensed independent social worker and her professional career in social work spanned over 40 years in both the public and private sector. Kathy is survived by her husband Michael J. Herschede; children Dylan (Jen) McLaughlin and Patrick McLaughlin; grandson Eugene; and her siblings Kevin (Joanne) Hayes, Michael Hayes, Mary Hayes, Tom (Mag) Hayes, and Kiene (Jim) Landry; and nine nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Kaney and Janet Hayes. Kathy enjoyed acting in theater while in college and spent many years involved in The Children's Theater of Cincinnati. She was the originator of public performances which elevated The Children's Theater to a community wide audience. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, and was a quadruple Grandmaster of Peggle. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Regina Hall at Mount St. Joseph's, 5900 Delhi Road, Cincinnati, OH from 1:00-2:30 pm.
