Mary Frees, 85, of Western Hills, OH, formerly of Centerville, OH, peacefully entered the eternal garden of life on April 12, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. Frees, loving sister of Eileen Malay and Peggy Dornette. Mary was the cherished mother of Jed (Deirdre), Randy (Trudy), Guy, and Joe (Mary); beloved grandmother to Aaron (Alex), Justin, Nathan, Adam, Ashley, Joe Willie, Dillon, Jared, Logan, and Brody, and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a vibrant light in the many lives she touched. Her favorite times were with her family vacationing at places by the water, either on a beach or a lake. She also enjoyed the company of others in her jobs managing restaurants owned by the family (Empress Chili) or a local department store (Elder-Beerman). Most knew her through her life-long connection with bridge and other card games. Mary demonstrated her knowledge and talent by earning the coveted "Life Master" status at the young age of 43. She served as board member and president of the Miami Valley Bridge Association and later, as co-manager of the Miami Valley Bridge Center with her long-time friend, Evelyn Tuck, for many years. She taught all of her grandchildren how to play pinochle, sharing with them her love of strategy and competition in card games.
Mary also enjoyed quiet times by herself, including her daily power walks in the neighborhood or at a local mall, reading, watching her treasured Cincinnati Reds and the many sports played by her kids and grandkids.
The family wishes to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Lodge Care Center in Loveland OH, as well as their hospice collaborators. The family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Hospice of Cincinnati.
