Mary Davis Gardner was born Auguat 30, 1918 in Mars, Pennsylvania to educators, Prof. Sturgis and Margaret Davis. A registered nurse, who graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio in 1940, she practiced nursing at Mercy Hospital, Jane Case Hospital in Delaware, Ohio, Middletown City Hospital in Middletown, Ohio. During World War II, she practiced in Charlestown, S.C, She married veterinarian Dr. Paul O. Gardner, Sept. 22, 1941. The couple moved to Blanchester Ohio Jan. 8, 1947. She is survived by her husband Dr. Paul O. Gardner, her daughter, Diane Gardner of New York City, her son, David Gardner of New York City, and her sister, Alice Burbank of Milford, Ohio.
