IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Frances
Costello
May 4, 1927 – August 2, 2025
Mary Frances "Fran" Costello (nee Gessing), age 98, passed peacefully into eternal life on Saturday August 2nd, 2025.
She is survived by her children, John (Rebecca) Costello, Jr. and Elizabeth (Thomas) Cutter. The beloved grandmother of Rachel (Jusiah) Miller, Abigail (David) Cydrus, Kimberly (Jon) Korst, James (Keely) Cutter, Kelly (Christopher) Burger and Michael (Brooke) Cutter, Fran was also the cherished great-grandmother of Noah and Reagan Miller, Sadie Cydrus, Ben, Joe and Kate Korst, Annie Cutter as well as Ellie, Jack and Fran Burger. Fran was preceded in death by her loving husband of 28 years, John "Mike" Costello, Sr., as well as four siblings, William Jr., Henry, Virginia and Jack Gessing.
Fran was the fourth of five children born to William J. Gessing and Ann Louise (Enneking) Gessing in Cincinnati, OH on May 4th, 1927. She graduated from Cardinal Pacelli School and Mt Notre Dame Academy. She was one of the last surviving members of the MNDA Class of 1945. Following high school, she worked as a teller for The Provident Bank until she married Mike in 1960.
Fran was devoted to her faith. She attended daily mass into her early 90s and said the Rosary every day. Even as her memory faded, she continued with her prayer time each day and was insistent on getting a ride to Saturday afternoon Mass each week.
Fran remained in the family home until age 93, when she relocated to the Seasons of Kenwood in 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the annual fund at Mt Notre Dame High School or Archbishop Moeller High School or the charity of the donor's choice.
