Mary Eileen Bauman passed away on April 15, 2026 at the age of 82, after a beautiful life well lived. Born on September 13, 1943, to the late Vincent and Mary Billiter, she was preceded in death by her sister, Angela Maccani.
Eileen graduated from Regina High School in 1961 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Cincinnati. She dedicated 40 years to a career in healthcare, working in local hospitals, with the majority of her time spent at TriHealth, where she served as a Laboratory Manager.
In retirement, Eileen continued her lifelong commitment to service. She volunteered at Purcell Marian High School, tutoring special needs students and supporting at-risk inner-city youth. In recognition of her compassion and dedication, she was honored with the prestigious Spirit of Dorothy Stang Award by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
At St. Columban Parish, Eileen led the Bereavement Ministry for ten years. She was also an active member of St. Anthony Parish, where she served clients through the Madisonville Education and Assistance Center. In 2007, she accompanied a group of fifteen Purcell Marian students to New Orleans to assist with cleanup efforts following Hurricane Katrina. She also worked alongside doctors, medical professionals, and medical supply organizations to help establish health clinics in Guatemala.
Eileen’s deep faith, unwavering generosity, and quiet acts of kindness were a lasting inspiration to her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Larry Bauman; her four children, Eric (Joan) Bauman, Jean (Joe) Hodge, Kate Brodie, and Susie Bauman (Larry Jones); and her ten cherished grandchildren: McKell Jones, Camille Hodge (Sam), Mary Claire Heithaus (Matt), Larry Jones (Ashley), Thomas Bauman, Conor Brodie, Andrew Bauman, Henry Hodge, John Brodie, and Myles Jones. She is also survived by five siblings: Rosalind Vollmar, Vince Billiter, Theresa Loux, Edward Billiter and Charlotte Hannah.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 9 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8815 E Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. A reception will immediately follow.
Any gifts made in Eileen’s name should go to Purcell Marian High School-LPP, a program for which she volunteered many years.
