Marvin Kerney Davenport, of Williamsburg, Kentucky went home to his Lord on October 8, 2026, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Florence, Kentucky. Marvin was born on March 7, 1937, in Williamsburg, Kentucky to Green Berry and Ora Davenport.
Marvin was the loving father of Regina (Bruce) Becknell and Shanda Hunt, caring grandfather of Travis (Lindee) Becknell, Trent (Shawna) Becknell, Trisha (Dave) Burke, Blake Hunt, Derrick (Krista) Hunt and the late Stacy Becknell, proud great-grandfather of Cora (Parker) Emmett, Thomas Burke, Bailey Becknell, Hunter Becknell, Calvin Becknell and Jonas Becknell, dear brother of George Davenport, Lolus Hale, Wade (Evon) Davenport, Betty (Joe) Readon, Larry (Leoma) Davenport, Gary (Barb) Davenport, Arnold Davenport and the late Mary Audell O’Hara, cherished son of the late Green Berry and Ora (nee Siler) Davenport. Marvin is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many dear friends.
Marvin was a true farm-boy/bib overall wearing/southern gentleman at heart, and he took that love into his adult years. He loved his garden, his bees, good home cooking, especially a pan of cornbread with pinto beans, and his family.
After moving from Kentucky, he worked for Firestone and Goodyear in Cincinnati, Ohio for the majority of his adult life. During those years he began remodeling older homes in and around Norwood, Ohio, eventually expanding those renovations to include rental and commercial properties. He loved taking something old and making it new again.
He was a great storyteller; his favorites included funny stories about growing up with eight brothers and sisters on their farm in the mountains. And later, stories and memories of his grandkids, that he loved so much. His stories also reflected his respect for hard work, family, and overcoming the challenges in life. He always remained positive. He was often heard saying, “I have been truly blessed!”
Friends will be received from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, October 16 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, where services will begin at 12:30 PM on Friday.
The interment will take place at Graceland Memorial Gardens, Milford, OH
