Obituary

Marlyn Luther Rabenold of Indian Hill died peacefully after a lengthy illness on May 22, 2023 at the age of 85.

Marlyn is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marjorie (nee Weaver) Rabenold and his four children, Keith (Stephanie) Rabenold, Jackie (Kerry) Rabenold McIntyre, John Rabenold, and Christopher (Molly) Rabenold. Marlyn is the proud grandfather of Madeline Marjorie, Jack Marlyn, William Christopher, Nicholas Edward, Madeline Grace, Elizabeth Shallcross, Cameron Reid, Jackson Reid, Paige Addison, Mack Luther, and Grant Christopher. Marlyn is also survived by his cousin, Laurel Lande.

Marlyn was born in Alburtis, Pennsylvania to parents, Luther and Marian (nee Kercher) Rabenold, on February 3, 1938. He attended a one room schoolhouse through eighth grade in Lower Macungie Township, Pennsylvania and then graduated from Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. Marlyn received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in 1959 from The Pennsylvania State University, where he was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity. He received a master's degree in industrial engineering in 1960 from Lehigh University.

Following college, Marlyn moved to Cincinnati to begin a career with Procter & Gamble that spanned almost 30 years, first in plant management and then in organizational development. After leaving Procter & Gamble, he began his second career, which lasted for over 20 years, as a consultant in team-based work systems and organizational development for international companies with operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Marlyn met the love of his life, Marjorie, while the two were auditioning for a play at the old Odeon Theatre in downtown Cincinnati. They married in 1963 and called Cincinnati home for the next 60 years. He treasured time spent with family, whether coaching his kids in baseball, softball or soccer, watching his grandchildren in school plays, sporting events or other endeavors, enjoying family vacations in California, Florida, or at the Chautauqua Institution, or simply just laughing with loved ones at family dinners.

He was passionate about learning, professionally and otherwise. He made countless trips to Carmel, California and other locations to attend professional workshops with pioneers and thought leaders in the field of organizational development. He enjoyed his retreats with the "Farm Group," a cherished group of 11 Procter & Gamble families that collectively owned a farm near Brookville, Indiana. On a moment's notice, Marlyn was always willing to share his knowledge with colleagues, friends and family in an effort to help solve the problem of the day. Those interactions are treasured memories and will be sorely missed.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Ave., Loveland, Ohio. A private service will be held for Marlyn at the Indian Hill Church.
