Obituary

Mark J. Duvelius of Lebanon, OH. Loving husband of Carolyn (nee Benninghoff) Duvelius. Dear father of Tyler Duvelius and Matthew Duvelius. Beloved brother of Eugene (Susan) Duvelius. Mark committed his career to public service. Even before he was 18, he joined the Maineville Community Volunteer Fire Department as a cadet firefighter. In the 15 years with Maineville, he served as a firefighter/emt , and later was Assistant Emergency Medical Services Chief. In spring of 1976, Mark joined the Warren County Emergency Police sponsored by the Warren County Sheriff's Office. In August of 1977, Mark entered the Lebanon Police Academy and graduated the following February. He was hired by the Warren County Sheriff and Deerfield Township Trustee's as a full-time deputy for Deerfield Township. For a brief period of time, Mark left the Sheriff's Office to be a full-time Firefighter/EMT for the Evendale Fire Department. Realizing his true calling was in law enforcement, Mark soon returned to the Sheriff's Office in May, 1986. During Mark's career with the Warren County Sheriff's Office, he served as a deputy, detective, patrol sergeant, and administrative sergeant. He was part of the original Drug Task Force, Warren County Arson Task Force, SWAT team, and Underwater Recovery Team. He was liaison for MAGLOCLEN and served on the Interstate Homicide Task Force. Mark often served as guest lecturer, and received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career. For a brief period, Mark was Lieutenant for Clearcreek Township Police Department and during that time, he received his Master's in Public Administration from the University of Dayton in 2002. He also holds a bachelor's of science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. In 2003, Mark joined the Warren County Prosecutor's Office as an Investigator. During that time, Mark was also assigned to the US Marshal Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team Squad out of Cincinnati. He retired after serving his community and Warren County for more 40 years. Friends will be received from 4-8 PM Friday February 5, 2016 at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Dr. Loveland, OH 45140. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 6, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Francis de Sales Parish, 20 Desales Ave. Lebanon, OH 45036. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery, OH. Family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, PO Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Warren and Clinton Counties, 777 Columbus Ave. Suite 6 Lebanon, OH 45036. There will be continued food and fellowship at the Warren County Historical Society, 105 S. Broadway Lebanon, OH 45036, following the burial approximately at 12:30 PM.
