Marjorie Marie (née Jones) Smith of Batavia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at the age of 95. Marjorie was born on February 5, 1930, in Middletown, Ohio, to Harry and Marie Jones. Marjorie was the beloved wife of the late Donald W. Smith, loving mother of Debby (Greg) VonLuehrte, David W. Smith, Beverlee (Dennis) Havens, Larry (Phoebe) Smith, Linda (Terry) Shaw, and the late Connie S. Smith; caring grandmother of Dan VonLuehrte, Susan (Paul) VanVleet, Megan Havens, Craig (Jill) Havens, Matthew Smith, Kyle Smith, Ryan (Scott) Sadove, and Kristin (Kenneth) Koldenhoven; proud great-grandmother of Hailee VanVleet, Brianna VanVleet, Zoe VanVleet, Cole Havens, Cash Havens, Dylan Sadove, Taylor Sadove, Kenny Koldenhoven Jr., and Kolin Koldenhoven; dear sister of Shirley (Gayle) Leihgeber, and cherished daughter of the late Harry C. and Marie (née Blair) Jones.
Marjorie moved with her parents to Marathon, Ohio, when she was 10. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1948. Marjorie started her career at the Farmer's Exchange Bank in Lynchburg, Ohio. She went on to work at a savings and loan in Owensville, Ohio, after raising her family, eventually becoming the branch manager of Clermont Savings Bank in Owensville, Ohio.
Marjorie loved to travel with family and friends. She was an avid card player, loved playing games, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and loved Cincinnati Reds ballgames.
Marjorie leaves behind a legacy of love and a profound belief in the power of God and family. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
A private graveside service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice in her memory.
