Marie Zielinski of Loveland. Beloved wife of 57 years to Charles Zielinski. Loving mother of Brenda (Jay) Burton, Charles (Heather) Zielinski, and Michael (Mary) Zielinski. Proud grandmother of Christine (Brad) Work, Rebecca (Drew) Sulzer, Katharine Alvarado, Charles Burton, Caroline & Erin Zielinski, and Alexis & Adam Zielinski. Great grandmother of six. Dear sister of the late Joseph Lunney. Passed peacefully on June 22, 2017 at the age of 79. Marie was born and raised in Boston, MA. She loved the cultural vitality that the city has to offer and her beloved alma mater Boston College, which she graduated from in 1959 with a nursing degree and also where she met her soulmate, Charlie, whom she would marry less than a year later. Saint Rose Catholic Church, Chelsea, MA, was a uniquely special place throughout Marie's life. At Saint Rose, she was baptized, worshipped, graduated from high school and, on May 14, 1960, was married. Marie was a very generous woman in every way, who loved helping others. She practiced nursing for many years at Holmes Hospital, as well as serving as the neighborhood "medical expert" who handled everyone's cuts, bruises and broken bones. Later in her career, she worked as a long term disability manager with Proctor & Gamble. But above all, family was everything to Marie! She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She took special pleasure in watching her children and grandchildren participate in their assorted sports and school activities, and showed genuine interest in every one of their ongoing exploits. Marie loved to travel the world. And travel the world she did!! She and Charlie visited over 40 countries. However, spending family summer vacations in New England, Outer Banks, and Florida were her favorite destinations. She expressed her love by giving generously of her time to a number of charitable organizations, including Red Cross blood drives, being "Team Mom" to her son's youth hockey teams, school volunteer and being long term supporter of the Playhouse.
Selfless, eternally hopeful, and positive, Marie was a joy to be around. Her warm, calm, and smiling presence will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. No one will forget Marie, be it her ham & cheese snack specialty, her 4pm Sunday Manhattans or her willingness to chat with anyone near her, be they a friend or a complete stranger. Family and friends will be received from 9-10 AM on Monday, June 26 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8815 E. Kemper Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marie may be directed to Cleveland Clinic Foundation Sydell & Arnold Miller Heart and Vascular Institute.
