Marguerite Spring "Peg" Pauly spent her childhood in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati upon marrying longtime sweetheart David B. Pauly, Sr. after World War II.
She had abundant energy, a contagious smile, and a room-rousing laugh. She was imbued with positivity and a civic spirit that propelled her into health-related community service work throughout Cincinnati for over 40 years.
Peg served as an active volunteer with the Junior League of Cincinnati. In this role, she organized efforts to convert city busses into mobile clinics for tuberculosis testing.
She was heavily involved in campaign efforts to elect the first woman mayor of Cincinnati, Bobbie Stern. Peg went on to become the first woman appointed to the Cincinnati Board of Health in 1972. In 1975, she was among the Cincinnati Enquirer Women of the Year.
Peg later became the manager of the voluntary action center at the United Way and Community Chest of the Greater Cincinnati Area. There, she enlisted corporate executive and their employees to participate in various volunteer efforts. In this role, she established the Easy Riders program, driving low-income and elderly community members to doctors' appointments.
She received various other volunteer awards throughout her life. Peg truly adored people, and spread joy to everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with family, at home and in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. And as Peg would say, "thanks a million, it's been wonderful."
Peg was the beloved wife of the late David B. Pauly, Sr. Loving mother of David (Susan) Pauly, Jr., Cindy (Jamie) MacLeod, and Pamela (Suzanne Berry) Pauly. Cherished grandmother of Emily (Ben) Edwards, Jill MacLeod, and Megan (Taran Deep Singh Pawa) Pauly. Proud great-grandmother of Juniper and Bjorn Edwards.
Private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peg may be sent to the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, P.O. Box 632711, Cincinnati, OH 45236-271 or the Lodge Retirement Community, 12050 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249.
