Obituary

Dr. Manuel M. Rodarte, beloved husband of Laura Gowans Rodarte, devoted father of David Manuel (Vicki) Rodarte, Elizabeth Ann (Richard) Boiman, Laura Mary (Manuel) Villarreal, Thomas Peter (Cynthia) Rodarte, Daniel Paul Rodarte, and James Philip Rodarte. Adoring grandfather of Michael and James Rodarte, Laura and Anna Boiman, Anna and Alejandra Villarreal, Sara and Suzanne Rodarte, Philip and Amanda Rodarte. He also leaves behind 5 siblings in Monterrey, Mexico. Manuel Rodarte met Laura Gowans during his residency in Washington, D.C., where Laura was a registered nurse. They met over a "bleeding tonsil". "He was administering a gauze pack to a bleeding tonsil, turned and looked at me, and I was hooked", said his wife Laura. They were married for more than 50 years. Dr. Rodarte obtained his medical degree from University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey Mexico. He served an internship at South Chicago General Hospital, and completed a surgical residency at Sibley Memorial Hospital Washington D.C. He was a house physician Manuel played drums for a hobby, and occasionally performed with the Pete Wagner Band at the Cincinnati Reds' games. A fabulous dancer, Manuel loved humor, word play, golf, and cards. He was and accomplished linguist and inventor of affectionate nametag Memorials: the Michael J.
