Lucille Mae Gareis (1913-2012) completed her resilient life on February 29, 2012 at the age of 98. Lucille is survived by a daughter Carolou McCarren, sons-in-law Wade McCarren and Charles Wells, grandchildren Donna Unico of Pittsburgh, PA, David Wells of Minneapolis, MN, Darryl Wells of Fishers, IN and Dayna Scherf of Dallas, TX, and 11 great grandchildren. Husband Andrew John Gareis (1981), brothers Harold and Ron Siemund, and daughter Caroline Rosa Wells (2004) preceded her in death. She was born November 8, 1913 in Pontiac IL, moved to Aurora, IN, attended Hughes High School in Cincinnati, and resided in Mason, OH for more than 40 years before living with family for 9 years in Blanchester, OH. She was married to Andrew John Gareis for 45 years. Her jobs outside of the home included the Golden Lamb Hotel & Restaurant and the Kings Island Inn & Amusement Park information center for more than 20 years, working until she was 80 years old. Lucille was an outstanding cook, baker, and seamstress, and a member of the Mt. Healthy Chapter Order of the Eastern Star for 76 yrs. Her family was a great source of pride, and they loved each other very much. She has been a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She raised two daughters, and was instrumental in helping raise her four grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 AM at the Cedars of Lebanon Chapel on Friday March 2, 2012 at Spring Grove Cemetery, with burial immediately following.
