Lorraine was born August 3, 1928 in Streator Illinois to Anthony and Irma Groene. She grew up with her five beloved brothers Harold, James, Robert, Floyd, Leroy (Lorraine's twin) and Frances her beloved sister.
Lorraine met her husband Patrick H. Coleman, of Petersburg Virginia, through the "Streator Welcome Wagon Lady", a neighbor, a friend of the Groene family and sometimes match maker. They were introduced, fell in love and married. They put down permanent roots in Cincinnati Ohio and built their life together.
Lorraine supported her husband as he built their business. They were a team and quite successful in this endeavor. Meanwhile, Lorraine brought four daughters into this world. She was mother, a housewife and was the glue that held the family together. Lorraine put the needs of her children above her own. She handled the challenges of motherhood with love and grace. She often cared for all four children while her husband worked long hours and traveled to build their business.
Lorraine and Patrick instilled solid values of Christianity, education and family. During their marriage and child rearing years they were members of three Catholic Churches including: Saint Gertrude's Church, All Saints Church and Good Shepherd Church.
They provided exceptionally well for their children, not only through the family home and education but also by enriching the lives of their daughters with warm and memorable holidays celebrations, birthday parties, simple gifts of life, the love of swimming, vacations at the beach, and staycations, enjoying all that Cincinnati had to offer. They also instilled an appreciation and love of classical music… baseball and enjoyment of life.
Later in life Lorraine and Pat enjoyed great adventures as they traveled throughout the states and trotted the globe. Their adventures were well earned.
Lorraine is perhaps best remembered as a devoted mother and wife. She loved her daughters deeply as well as her grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a special love of babies, and animals. Lorraine was beautiful. She had an enduring sweetness about her, a funny sense of humor and not to omit a sometimes-unfiltered honesty. Lorraine was very much loved and will be deeply missed.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Patrick H. Coleman; four daughters, Jan (Bill) Skillman of Bonita Springs, FL, Terri (Randy) Owen of Grand Junction CO, Rebeccah Coleman of Atlanta GA, Trish (Don) Musnuff of Johns Island, SC; nine grandchildren, Will (Beth) Skillman, Greg (Kim) Skillman, Noelle (Albert) Caceres, Jessica Merrall, Paul Owen, Joseph Owen, Grace Owen, Trixie Owen, Janice Owen and five great grandchildren, Patrick Skillman Lawrence, Carolina Skillman, Jordan (Corey and Camden) Deland, Montana Skillman(Branden Bowman) and Madison Skillman.
