Loretta Ann (nee Towner) McKinney of Milford, OH, Went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2020 at the age of 85. Born on March 30, 1935 in Canton, OH. Loretta was a resident of Ohio, Georgia, New Mexico and Wisconsin during her long life. Loretta was a self-taught singer and piano player; her vocal range was that of alto to a high tenor. She had a wonderful acapella singing style in the Appalachian Shape Note tradition. She also loved to sew, cook, and read. Loretta was a lifelong member of the Primitive Baptist Faith, and held her deep love of Jesus Christ above all else.
Loving mother of Ann McKinney, Mark McKinney and Daniel McKinney (wife Faya Shiu-McKinney). Proud bonus mother of Rebecca, Donna, Timothy, and Christopher McKinney. Proud grandmother of Samuel McKinney, William McKinney, and Kathryn McKinney with thanks to their mother Karen Graney McKinney. Loving Bonus Grandmother to Nicholas Shiu and Georgia Shiu, Joshua Hudson, Jeremy McMahon, and Ashley Morgan. Dear sister of the late Larry (Mary Lou) Towner. Caring aunt of Roger Towner, Tim, Kim, and Amy Burns, Scott, Pamela, and the late, Michael McKinney, and Mike and Mellissa Towner. Cherished daughter of the late Milford Robert and Anges V. (nee Cottrell) Towner, and step-mother Vinnie Mann Towner, who all preceded her in death.
The family wants to thank Julie and Stephanie of Sem Villa in Milford, OH. The staff and nurses of Hospice of Cincinnati; Social Workers Lynn and Sonia, and nurses Vicki and Joanna. Special thanks to Chaplin Kevin Hamilton for his visit with mom and singing for her. Special thanks also to Father Earle Fernandes for his visitation and final prayers and providing the Last Rites for Mom.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 @ 3 PM at Graceland Memorial Gardens, 5989 Deerfield Rd., Milford, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Loretta McKinney to Hospice of Cincinnati. The family is also very grateful to Tufts Schlidmeyer Funeral Home, especially Tim King and Pastor Larry Gee.
