Linda S. Poland of Maineville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 75.
Linda was the beloved wife of David Poland for 55 wonderful years and a devoted mother to Phillip (Sandra) Poland and Michelle (Frank) Pullano. She was a cherished grandmother to Victoria Poland, William Poland, Nicholas Pullano, and Amelia Pullano, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her caring sister, Nancy (Rich Cangie) King.
Linda’s life was marked by unwavering faith, service, and dedication to others. She attended Greenville University, where she met the love of her life, David. She later earned a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary and went on to complete her Doctor of Theology (ThD) at Concordia Seminary.
Throughout her life, Linda devoted herself wholeheartedly to ministry, teaching, and volunteer service. She spent nearly 35 years serving in Children’s Ministry and 20 years ministering to the elderly. Her passion for Scripture led her to write and teach Bible studies, dedicating seven and a half years to teaching through every chapter of the Bible. She also generously created custom Sunday School lessons for smaller churches that lacked the resources to purchase larger curriculum programs.
Linda’s heart for mentoring and leadership extended to her more than 30 years with the Girl Scouts, where she served as a leader and earned Gold Star recognition. She was also deeply committed to the Civil Air Patrol, where she attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served as Deputy Commander of Cadets. Her many awards and decorations included the Exceptional Service Award and the National Commander’s Commendation Award. Linda took tremendous pride in the young people she mentored and often said that, second only to her family, her cadets were her greatest legacy. She played an integral role in establishing the Lt. Col. Jerome P. Ashman Composite Squadron GLR-OH-145 in 2016, a squadron recently recognized as the Squadron of Merit for the State of Ohio.
Linda will be remembered for her steadfast faith, servant’s heart, love of learning, and the countless lives she touched through teaching, mentoring, and ministry. Her legacy of compassion, wisdom, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She was a proud member of the John Reily Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
A memorial service celebrating Linda’s life will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Countryside YMCA, Gathering Room, 6246 Turning Leaf Way, Maineville, Ohio 45039.
Inurnment will take place June 2nd, at 1:00 PM, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO 63125.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the Civil Air Patrol Development Office, P.O. Box 9251, Montgomery, AL 36108, or to Covenant Theological Seminary Development Office, 12330 Conway Road, St. Louis, MO 63141.
