IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lina
Stokes
July 21, 1947 – March 16, 2024
Lina Murphy Stokes passed away on March 16 at the age of 76. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Wayne Stokes. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Bettie Murphy and loving niece Jennnifer Murphy and special nephew Eric Wawrzon. She also leaves behind other nieces and nephews.
She was born on July 21, 1947, to the late Rupert and Elizabeth Murphy in Gilt Edge, TN. She is preceded in death by her siblings Hayes, Gerald and Joe Murphy and sister Bet Wawrzon.
She attended Mississippi State College for Women where she met her husband on a blind date. They were married on August 3, 1968. Their first home was in Fort Worth, TX where she worked as a children's librarian in the Fort Worth Public Library system.
In 1977 they moved to Ohio where they made their home in Loveland. Lina was a very avid golfer and domino player and enjoyed many rounds with her golf buddies at O'Bannon Creek Golf Club. She especially enjoyed going on golf trips with her husband. On one special day they managed to play 54 holes in one day without him making her cry a single time.
She was a very spiritual person, and her personal faith played a major role in her ability to maintain her quality of life the last several years.
A celebration of life will be held in the future with the date to be announced. Donations in her name may be made to the Evans Scholarship Foundation or First Tee.
