LaVerne Strittholt

February 20, 1930 - January 9, 2025

We say goodbye to LaVerne Strittholt (Fairfield, Ohio), who passed on January 9, 2025, just shy of her 95th birthday. LaVerne's infectious smile, her energy, and spirited, positive personality will be forever remembered and missed. She was born in Newport, Kentucky, and grew up in College Hill. She attended St. Clare grade school and graduated from Our Lady of Angels High School in St. Bernard in 1948.

LaVerne loved her family and always took pride in them and her home. Health, a good diet and exercise were important to her. She grew a vegetable garden and enjoyed cooking healthy meals. In her younger days she exercised in front of the TV with Jack LaLanne and Lilias Yoga, and in her later years she religiously went to the YMCA to swim and exercise.

LaVerne was a hard worker but always made time for play and fun. She loved being outdoors, enjoying golf, biking, walking at Harbin Park, swimming, or playing cornhole. She especially loved tennis. When not tending to her family, she filled her summers swimming and playing tennis with her neighbors and friends at Rolling Hills Country Club. She was always ready to play cards and excelled at Bridge and 500, enjoying playing with family, friends and various groups.

Charlie and LaVerne were quite the handsome couple and often the life of the party. They loved dancing to big band music, traveling, and camping. With their kids grown, they traveled and camped throughout the country in their van that Charlie customized. They had many fun adventures as members of Thousand Trails Camping: Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Montana, Wyoming and Florida.

LaVerne never needed much to be happy, never complained, and lived a life of faith, appreciation and gratitude. LaVerne was a vibrant force and truly one of a kind.

Beloved wife of the late Charles Strittholt. Loving mother of Linda White, Todd (Joy) Strittholt, and the late Jerry (Joanne) Strittholt. Cherished grandmother of Kim Karasick, Amy (Mike) Parlier, Angela Strittholt, Kristin (Kent) Couch, Ryan (Dana) Goss, Jeni Peters, Nathan Strittholt and Jadyn Strittholt. Proud great-grandmother of 7. Devoted sister of the late Gloria Murphy and the late Don Berger.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life near her birthday of February 20; the exact date and time will be announced at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed towards her favorite charity, Unbound or towards the planting of a tree in her memory at Harbin Park in Fairfield (please direct tree donations to the familly).
