Laura Lee Hunter was born on February 15, 1938 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late Augusta Sr. and Mattie Lee Hunter. She departed this earthly life on June 15, 2015.
Laura confessed to Christ at an early age. Upon moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, she joined New Unity Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. A.A. Freeman. Laura was a long time Pastor Aide for Rev. Mark A. Toney. She was also, a long time active member of the Meridianites, an organization consisting of Meridian, Mississippi natives who reunite across the U.S. each year forming fellowship gatherings with family and friends.
Laura was a loving devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her children. She had a special close-nit bond with all her relatives. Laura was very caring and nurturing. She extended her family by raising her nieces and nephews along with her own children. Laura was employed by Keebler Bakery from 1969 1983. She enjoyed Gospel music and attending Gospel concerts. Laura loved sports and in her younger years she participated in softball and was in a bowling league. She loved traveling around the U.S. to attend her son's professional football games. You could always find her in the stands cheering at her two sons' sporting events.
Laura had many hobbies and was gifted with talents such as cooking, gardening, decorating and entertaining. Laura was preceded in death by her son, Frank Hunter, Sr.; and siblings, Ludell Hunter, Emma Overstreet, Marie Ellis, Augusta Hunter, Jr., Wanda Irene Taylor. She leaves behind to celebrate her life: her children, Regina Ann Hunter, Janice Lee Dews (Charles) and Tony Hunter; daughter-in-law, Charlene Hunter; sibling, Leevell Hunter (Harriet).; grandchildren, Kareem Stokes, Sr. (Carmen), Quinten Goode, India Hunter, Ashley Hunter, Frank Hunter, Jr., Alexa Dews, and Kayla Hunter; great grandchildren, Kareem Stokes, Jr., Aiyanna Davis, and Cameran Stokes; special aunt, Julia Mae Hunter Rice of Meridian, Mississippi; best friend, Lucy Dixon; caregiver/friend, Brenda Fallings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Laura was in a class by herself; one of kind. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
