Obituary

Valley Vineyards Founder Kenneth G. Schuchter April 26, 1931 - October 10, 2016, Kenneth G. Schuchter 85, was taken to heaven after a heartfelt battle with Cancer. His positive view of the world, endless energy, bounding enthusiasm, kind heart extended to his Family, friends and everyone who met Ken. Always boasting "I'm The Happiest Man Who Ever Lived" and it was true. A lifetime resident of Warren County, Ohio:Graduating from Morrow High School in 1949, Ken went to Korea to proudly serve his country, came home and attended the University of Cincinnati and following graduation went to work for General Motors in Dayton; at the Delco Moraine Facility. Upon leaving General Motors in 1976, devoted his life to his family, grapes, wine & living out his dreams. Ken and his work at Valley Vineyards foreshadowed what was to become the modern Ohio grape and wine community. He was a founding member of the Ohio Wine Producers Association, and a visionary of the Ohio Grape Industries Committee that helped guide the expansion of the industry from 13 wineries in 1975 to over 250 today. To those of us who knew him well, Ken was the first to offer a cup of coffee, a glass of wine and a warm smile to any situation that may have come up. Always followed by a warm hug, pat on the back and boasting "Hey Babe, it will be okay," and you know...he always made sure it was. Ken was the beloved husband of 30 years to Beth "Zab" Schuchter (nee Clements) and the late Margaret Ann Schuchter (nee Hamlin) of 33 years; loving father of Kenny J. Schuchter (Dodie nee Shaw) and the late Angela Roosa (Dave); proud grandfather of Tiffany (Travis), Joe, Kyle (Kirby) and D.J.; great grandfather of Kale and Angilee; dear brother of Junior Schuchter, James Schuchter (Pat), Jerry Schuchter, Carol Jean Young (Bob), Gail Mitchell, Cathy Cayer (John) and Donnie Schuchter (Donna); beloved uncle of Brie Ashe (Jermane) and great uncle of Julien and Ava. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends. Family will receive friends Sunday, October 16 from 2-6 PM in the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Dr., Loveland. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 AM at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 944 East 22&3, Morrow, followed by procession to Gate of Heaven Cemetery for burial.
