Karla Kay O'Cull, 81, of DeLand, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026.

Born on November 15, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Karla was the daughter of Karl and Lois Brown. From a young age, she was energetic, outgoing, and a natural leader. She graduated from Loveland High School, where she was active in basketball, cheerleading, majorette activities, and theater. She later majored in Health and Physical Education in college, where she participated in cheerleading, swimming, and synchronized swimming.

Karla began her teaching career with the Northmont School System in 1966. In June 1967, she married Martin E. O'Cull, beginning a loving partnership that lasted 59 years. Throughout their marriage, Karla was Martin's strength, supporter, and trusted partner. She took great pride in her family and in creating a warm, welcoming home.

Karla's career later led her to Westfield Insurance Company, where she worked in customer service and became a licensed insurance agent in both Ohio and Florida.

Karla will be remembered for her courage, strength, warmth, leadership, compassion, and positive outlook on life. She deeply loved her family and remained concerned for those she loved, even during her final days. Her loving spirit, unwavering support, and devotion to her family will be cherished by all who knew her.

Karla is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Martin; her sons, Todd, Ryan (Kate), and Matthew (Melissa); her grandchildren, Oliver, Connor, Lucy, Brendan, Keira, Kylie, Grace, and Michael; and her sister, Karol (Jon) Warden. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Karl and Lois Brown.

Family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance gathering for Karla at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home – Loveland on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Karla's honor.

Karla will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
