Obituary

When a young person is taken from us, we often think of a life cut short, and perhaps unfulfilled. While Karen Nusekabel Schweikert's life certainly ended far too soon, hers was a life full of family, success and stewardship. Karen was born into a close-knit family in 1962 on Cincinnati's west side where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Saint Ursula Academy in 1980 and from the University of Dayton with a degree in Business in 1985. Upon graduation, she helped her family build and run a number of successful businesses. But it is her unique qualities of dedication, organization and energy that family and friends will remember fondly when they think of Karen Schweikert. And much of this passion was given to her family, husband Greg and three beautiful children. Whether managing the household, participating in classroom activities and school related organizations, or overseeing the children's many activities, Karen invested her whole self into her family. Her family was the love of her life. Community was a focus for Karen's passions as well. Over the course of four years, she battled cancer with determination and courage. Even so, she did not let this experience define her, but rather used it as inspiration working with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Karen won the award for being the highest fund raiser for the "Cincinnati 2006 Race for the Cure". Karen passed away peacefully on February 11, 2007 leaving her devoted husband of 10 years, Greg; children Thomas, Kelly and Kate; loving mother and father, Carol and Ed Nusekabel; sister Kristy; as well as many other grieving family members and friends. Family request that memorial contributions in memory of Karen be directed to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Komen Greater Cincinnati Affiliate, 2880 Boudinot Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45238. www.tuftsschildmeyer.com
