June Shekey (Woelffer) Velander of Cincinnati, OH. Born on May 3, 1924 in Watertown, Wisconsin. Went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Berger Velander. Loving mother of Gary (Marie) Velander, Lois (Christian) Hahn and Susan Chant. Caring grandmother of Jessica Nuncio, Amey Turner, Chris Velander and Brett (Sara) Velander, Karen Chant, Tom Chant and Sarah Chant, Schuyler Hahn and Peyton Hahn. Proud great-grandmother of Austin, Taylor and Kaitlyn Nuncio. Dear sister of Lois (Warren) Kindt. Cherished daughter of the late Roy and Rubie (Shekey) Woelffer. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. June graduated in 1946 from the University of Wisconsin as an innovator in speech therapy, and served as Chapter President of Delta Zeta Sorority. She was the first woman president of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Club in Cincinnati. June served on the Board of the NE America Heart Association, was president of the Indian Hill HS PTA and organized the Parents Cooperative Kindergarten in Mt. Healthy. June received awards for helping the youth from the Massachusetts State Legislature where she was chairman of the Lynnfield MA. Republican Town Committee. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7333 Pfeiffer Rd., Montgomery, OH., where friends will be received from 1 PM until the time of service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 11 AM at Evergreen Cemetery, Johnson Creek, Wisconsin.
