Julie Barber Cochran, 72, of Maineville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2026, after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. 

Julie was born on October 12, 1953, in Hope, Arkansas, to the late Thomas J. Barber and Lovena D. Barber. She graduated from Hope High School in 1971 before earning her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Henderson State University and her master's degree from Ouachita Baptist University. 

Teaching was more than Julie's profession—it was her calling. For 45 years, she faithfully served students and families at Patmos School District, Spring Hill School District, Hope Public Schools, and Garrett Memorial Christian School, where she concluded her career. She believed every child was capable of learning and made it her mission to encourage, inspire, and love the students entrusted to her care. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, and countless lives were shaped by her kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication. 

Following her retirement, Julie moved to Maineville, Ohio, to be closer to her children and grandchildren, who were the greatest joys of her life. Retirement did not slow her servant's heart. She continued to substitute teach, tutor students, teach Vacation Bible School, and help lead a GriefShare ministry, offering hope and comfort to those walking through loss. 

Julie found great joy in serving others. She expressed her love through cooking and was happiest preparing meals for church fellowship lunches and feeding anyone in need. She also had a gift for making things beautiful. Whether tending to her flower gardens, sewing thoughtful handmade gifts, or creating crafts to share with family and friends, Julie poured love into everything she did. Her generosity, creativity, and selfless spirit were hallmarks of her life. 

Above all, Julie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She treasured every moment spent with her family and delighted in watching her grandchildren grow. Her quiet strength, compassionate heart, steadfast faith, and gentle encouragement were gifts to everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, kindness, and unconditional love that will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched. 

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Barber and Lovena D. Barber. 

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Krista Cochran Crum and husband, Brian, of Maineville, Ohio; her son, Scott Cochran and wife, Krista, of Maineville, Ohio; her cherished grandchildren, Clayton Crum, Corbin Crum, and Evelyn Cochran; her special friend and devoted caregiver, Steven Payne; and many extended family members, dear friends, former students, and colleagues whose lives she touched. 

Services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home in Loveland, Ohio. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. 

A graveside service and burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope, Arkansas, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity, church, or ministry of your choice that supports education, cancer care, or feeding those in need, reflecting Julie's lifelong commitment to serving others. 

Julie's greatest lessons were never found only in a classroom. She taught through her kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and the love she freely shared with everyone she met. Her legacy lives on in her family, her students, and all who were blessed to know her.
