Judith Lea Carratello (nee Brady) of Maineville formerly New Jersey. Beloved wife of Joseph "Joe" Carratello. Devoted mother of Chris (Lauren) Carratello. Loving grandmother of Cecelia, Reed and Melody. Judith passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the age of 72.
Empathy was a gift Judy possessed in great capacity and she used her gift regularly. The only child of an Airforce veteran and a working-class mom, she moved a lot as a child. The few connections she had as a youth were deep and lifelong. Family connections she valued dearly. Judy was a loyal person, she would do anything to help out those in need. Throughout her life she collected friends both human and animal. Judy took in stray cats and dogs. Caring for them was like her calling. She would often say if she had the money, she'd open a house for unwanted pets.
She was a supportive and loving wife to her husband Joe. For over fifty years, they built a life through hard work, grit and determination. She was proud of the life they built together and prouder still that they had received no hand-outs along the way. With her husband's support Judy beat breast cancer. Subsequently, Judy dedicated her time and energy to the fight against breast cancer for as long as she could. Raising money, awareness and providing support for her fellow survivors Judy found a community she had longed for. Judy was also a loving mom. She supported Chris in his creativity which led to his eventual degree in music. Music was a bond they would share until her final days.
Cecelia, Reed and Melody did not have a chance to know their Nanny as her health faded, but stories of her will be passed on. Her grandkids will one day understand where they get some of their best traits from.
Judy had a big smile and an even bigger heart. She loved a good laugh, her laugh was infectious and will be missed greatly. One of Judy's greatest fears was being forgotten. She may now rest easy knowing that her impact on this world was deep and permanent - Judy Carratello will be remembered for decades to come.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM Thursday at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 North Riverside Ave. Loveland, Ohio 45140, where memorial services will begin at 11 AM. If desired memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Association.
