Joseph “Joe” Albert Moesker

December 9, 1945 – September 19, 2026

Joseph “Joe” Albert Moesker passed away less than peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy defined by deep devotion to his family, a sharp sense of honesty and fairness, and a lifetime of simple, genuine passions.

Born on December 9, 1945, Joe grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from Kings Mills High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and later received an MBA from Xavier University. During the Vietnam War, Joe was drafted into the United States Army and served his country, even though he forfeited a full scholarship to graduate school at the University of Florida.

Joe Moesker was a man of many talents and interests. He had a natural, practical brilliance—he was truly gifted at fixing whatever broke, around the house or under the hood of a car. A fan of muscle cars and the roar of sprint cars, Indy cars, stock and sports cars, Joe spent many joyful hours at racetracks from coast to coast but mostly in Ohio and Indiana. His appreciation for high-powered V8 pushrod engines and excellent drivers with masterful car control was always an entry way for lively conversation about how to make cars go faster. His curiosity and patience extended to quieter hobbies as well; he was both an avid stamp and coin collector, and a passionate model railroader who filled his entire basement with HO model train layouts. He also enjoyed a winning hand of Pinochle, and a winning bet on the ponies at the track.

Joe was happiest when he was outside—whether mowing the yard, having a smoke, tending to his prized asters and zinnias, whistling along to classic rock tunes as he washed his cars, spending a day on the golf coursewith his buddies, or exploring America’s national parks and historical sites on family vacations. He knew how to appreciate life’s pleasures: a donut, a slice of birthday cake, or a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken with those he loved.

Above all, Joe was a devoted family man and an extraordinary parent. Just a week before his passing, Joe and Martha celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. His family firmly believes he held on to reach that milestone—a final testament to his deep and enduring devotion to his wife. Though as a teen he was convinced that he was destined to marry Tina Turner, the moment Martha stepped into his life when he was just 17 years old, Joe had the good sense to recognize that she was “simply the best.”

Known for his frank opinions and refusal to sugarcoat the truth, even towards the end of his life, Joe always said what he meant and meant what he said. His straightforward wisdom and inimitable personality live on through a treasure trove of unforgettable “Joe Moeskerisms” that will continue to guide (and entertain) his friends and family for generations to come. “And if you don’t like it…” – you know what you can do.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Martha; his three children, Susan, Matthew (Jennifer), and Sarah (Thuan); his six grandchildren (Aidan, Sarah, Dakota, Reece, Davis, and Wyatt); and his cousins, Carolyn (Tom) Bogenschutz and Michelle (Jeff) Vogt. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte, and father, Fred.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Epiphany United Methodist Church (6635 Loveland-Miamiville Road, Loveland, OH). The memorial service will follow immediately afterwards at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Joe’s honor to Hospice of Cincinnati.

Joe will be profoundly missed, but his memory, wisdom, and trademark humor will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. A true original, we know he’s still—in the words of one of his all-time favorites, Bob Seger—“running against the wind.”
