Joseph was born on April 18, 1979 in Orange California. On September 11, 2017, at the age of 38, Joey passed away at Loveland Healthcare Center where he received care after suffering a traumatic brain injury. He was surrounded by family and comforted by his loving mother. Joseph was born to Janice Lynn Dozier and Howard M. Dozier, Jr. He was the youngest of his three siblings, Jennifer, Michael and Leah who affectionately called him Joey. Although his time with us was cut short, Joseph's impact on those who knew him will never be forgotten. Having never met a stranger, Joey was personable and kind to everyone he met. Whether a CEO of a corporation, a homeless person, or cashier at Walmart; Joe's network of friends was vast and diverse. Joey was fiercely loyal to any person he ever called a friend, never casting judgement or forsaking one for making a misstep or mistake. He was adored by children known for fixing every broken bike in the neighborhood, defending every bullied child, and never too busy to toss the football. Even though he was stronger than the hulk, Joey was at his core, a big teddy bear. Joey was a natural mechanic he could fix ANYTHING. If he could imagine it, he could build it. As teenager he once took the motor from his remote control airplane and motorized his skateboard. He loved body surfing at Newport Beach and riding rollercoasters with his siblings. Whether racing on his BMX bicycle or speeding around on his motorcycle, Joey loved adrenaline and speed. He was a proud member of the Bad to the Bone Motorcycle Club in Dayton Ohio where they called him "Bog Joe. Joe was an offensive lineman on his high school football team, the Tustin Tillers, and was called "The Wall" by his teammates. He loved football, but Michael Jordan was his favorite athlete and the Lakers were his favorite team.
Most of all, Joey was known for his boisterous laugh, infectious smile, and generous heart.
Joseph was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; William E. & Jeanette Ferguson and his paternal grandfather, Howard Dozier Jr., whom he cherished. Joey is survived by: his loving parents Howard M. Dozier Jr. and Janice L. Dozier; his beloved siblings Jennifer J. (Michael) Farmer, Michael Q. (LeeAnna) Dozier, and Leah Dozier Walker; as well as his loving grandmother Louise Dozier. He was a proud uncle to Jillian, Jacqueline, Jayde, Janae, & Jacob Farmer; Quinton, Patricia Symone, & Miles Dozier; and Alexandra & Adriana Walker. The dear nephew of Marcia (Thomas) Cattlet, Horace (Juanita) Dozier, Timothy Dozier, Sandy Christian, William N. (Kathy) Ferguson, Kevin (Brenda) Ferguson, and Jeffery (Debbie) Ferguson. Others left to cherish his memory are Ms. Anita Sheppard & Laquie Houston, Horace Dozier, Jr. and host of other cousins, family and friends.
