Johnnie H. Gifford of 4559 Clifton Lane, Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; born May 30th 1930 in Lincoln County, Kentucky died Friday May 22, 2009 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee after a very short illness. Johnnie was son of the late Elijah Gifford and Grace Patterson Gifford. He was retired from Princeton High School, Cincinnati, Ohio and was a member and deacon of The First Church of Jesus Christ in Milford, Ohio. Johnnie loved his retirement; hunting, fishing, camping and most of all playing with all of his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael L. Gifford; two brothers, Rosco Gifford and Carl Gifford; and three sisters, Ruby Kinney, Pearl Forrest and Hazel Waites. He is survived by his wife, Irene Bullock Gifford; son and daughter in law, Johnnie Wayne and Debbie Gifford; and his twin brother, James Gifford. Also by his four grandchildren, Sean Gifford and wife Sonda, Sara Herrington and husband Warren, Eric Gifford and wife Allison and Brad Gifford. Johnnie is also survived by ten great grandchildren; Devin, Kellen, Wyatt, Riley, Copeland, Gavin, Nolen, Alexis, Elliott and Alyssa. Johnnie leaves behind a host of many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. We will all miss him but will see him again in Heaven with Jesus Christ. Funeral Services and Receiving of Friends will be held at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 1668 State Route 28, Goshen, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. Receiving of Friends will be Tuesday, May 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. .
