John R. Potts of Maineville, OH passed away suddenly on Friday December 12, 2014 at his home. He was born on October 15, 1956 in Brown Deer, Wisconsin to Gene Potts and Joanne Potts nee Mahkorn. He was the devoted and loving husband of Nancy Gethers and beloved daddy of Sara (Kevin) Schwarze and Carolyn Potts. John was preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister, Jane Potts and father-in-law Byron Gethers. John was proud to be the grandfather of Jasper, Wilhelmina, Anabelle and Josaphene Schwarze. He was the loving son-in-law of Priscilla Gethers, dear brother-in-law of Ann Drey and Mark (Phyllis) Gethers and uncle of Liz (Chad) Clinton, Matthew (Risa) Gethers, Gabrielle (Seth) Harms, Nathanael (Chey) Gethers, Jordan Drey and Kara Drey. He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. John was a graduate of Brown Deer High School. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity, and his Masters of Business from the University of Chicago. John was an employee of Crown Lift Trucks for 15 years. He had a lucrative career in the material handling industry, including owning and operating his own business for seven years. He started his career after graduation in the health care industry. John was a loyal Green Bay Packers and UW football fan, and an avid NASCAR fan. He was a wonderful chef and camping cook extraordinaire. He was great with his hands and loved home improvement projects. He was a connoisseur of bourbon and received his Certificate of Distilling from the Woodford Reserve Bourbon Academy. John's family and friends will be received at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home 129 N. Riverside Ave. Loveland, Ohio 45140 on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 101 South Lebanon Road Loveland, Ohio 45140. Interment will be held at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing, Indiana on Wednesday at 2 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend. Food and fellowship will be provided after the service at Zion's Lutheran Church in Pershing, IN.
