John "Jack" Hominy, age 80, of Maineville, passed away March 14, 2026. Beloved husband of 26 years to Margie (nee Levoy) Hominy. Loving father of Jacqueline (Judah) Herman and Joelle (Tim) Gertz. Proud grandfather of Keagan (Brooke) Gertz, Will Gertz, Julian Herman, Jacob Herman and Luke Gertz. Great grandfather of Gavin, Grace and Gwen. Dear brother-in-law of Carol (Jim) Seeley, Matt (Diane) Levoy, Mary Barth, Elaine (Spencer) Kershner and Veronica (Dan) Hrkalovich. Jack is also survived by his former wife, Judy Hominy, and her siblings, Dick (the late Janice) Henry and Patty (Jeff) Dennis.
Jack was a loving husband and former husband, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, and friend whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Jacqueline and Joelle, who brought him immense joy and were always close to his heart. He cherished his time with them and took great pride in the women they became.
Jack also had a special place in his heart for his family and friends. He enjoyed every chance to get together, share stories, and create a little mischief, and if Jack happened to wander off during a family event, chances were he had already found a new conversation or the best seat in the room. He was notorious for being late, and his friends lovingly placed bets on when he would arrive.
Jack proudly served six years in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975. After his service, Jack dedicated 35 years to General Motors before retiring. He was also a proud member of the Loveland American Legion Post #256 and the Loveland Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3006, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships he had built over the years.
He loved to travel and had a curious spirit, often meandering off to see what-or who-was around the corner, usually returning with a new story or a new friend. Throughout the years, he made friends wherever he went and was loved by many. Known for his sharp style, Jack was often the best-dressed man in the room, and he certainly knew how to make an entrance. With his charm, humor, and larger than life personality, Jack left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was, quite simply, UNFORGETTABLE.
A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Saturday, April 11 from 3-7 PM at the American Legion Post 256, 897 Oakland Rd., Loveland, where Military Honors will be rendered at 3:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fisher House. Fisher House provides a temporary "home away from home" for families and caregivers of Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members while their loved one receives treatment at the VA Cincinnati Hospital. During Jack's time at the VA, Fisher House provided a place for Margie to stay nearby, offering comfort and support during a difficult time.
If you feel moved to do so, donations collected will be given to Fisher House in Jack's memory. Cash or check donations are welcome, or you may send a Venmo to Krista at the American Legion Auxiliary or by scanning the QR code below.
Thank you for helping support the men and women who serve our country and the families who stand beside them.
