Obituary

John Ephraim Liming, age 77, passed from this life on November 11, 2016 to a new home in heaven. Born July 27, 1939 near Williamsburg, Ohio, he was the son of Leslie Roy and Mayme (Williamson) Liming. He received his education in various schools in Brown County, graduating from Mt. Orab High School in 1957. John served in the 123rd ACW Ohio Air National Guard and received an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in 1962. In 1960 John married Edna Katharyn Bennett. Two sons were born to this union: Scott Matthew Liming and John Mark Liming. John and Kathy enjoyed 16 years of marriage until her untimely death in 1976. For most of John's life, he was a salesman of various products, always making sure that what he represented was good for people. He was a leader of the Boy Scouts and for a time served as youth minister at the Loveland Church of Christ. In 1978, John began another chapter of his life when he married Ruth Ann Campbell of Hamilton, Ohio, a marriage which has lasted 38 years. Their blended family included his sons, Scott and Mark, and Ruth's daughters, Melody, Jane and Suzanne. John dedicated twenty-four years of service to the Hamilton Township community through his position as a member of the Hamilton Township Zoning Commission Board. May 10, 2010, was proclaimed as 'Mr. John Liming Day' in Hamilton Township in recognition of his outstanding record of service. He served as the Zoning Commission Board President for twenty years. Teaching an adult Sunday school class at Goshen Church of Christ was one of John's greatest delights. He served as Elder there for many years and continued when the church was reorganized and named Heartland Christian Church. After retiring from the sales field, John became a courier driver delivering medicine to nursing homes, a position that fulfilled him, knowing he was helping people. John is survived by his wife, Ruth, two sons Scott (Carol ), Mark (Terry), three stepdaughters Melody (Duane) Goettemoeller, Jane (Shaun) Ponchot, and Suzanne (Mark) Campbell; 10 grandchildren: Christopher Liming (Chelsy), Michael Liming, Amy Shephard (Mark), April Dea (John), Annie Bernal (Luis), Kassandra (Jon) Wann, Andrew, Megan, and Anne Marie Goettemoeller, and Darci Ponchot; 18 great grandchildren: Daniel, Nikita, and Shae-Lynn Shepard, Kobe, Mei-Lien, and Tien Dea, Heaven and Ethan Ramos, Alex Granados, Alexis, Luis Jr., Elijah, Michael and Matthew Bernal, Zoie Wann, Cathan and Celeste Liming, and Kathy Rene Tattershell. He is also survived by three sisters: Edith Cassett, Coral Engel, and Jenny Henry as well as many nieces and nephews; and caring friends. Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 1668 State Route 28, Goshen, Ohio 45122. A funeral Service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Maineville Cemetery, Maineville, Ohio The family would like to extend a special thanks to the many loving hands at Hospice of Cincinnati (Blue Ash) who provided care and comfort to John and his family.
