Obituary

Whitacre, Joseph (Joe) Walter Joe Whitacre, 91, was born in Woodville, OH on March 18, 1921 and died peacefully at home on July 23, 2012 after a long illness. Joe served in the Army and his country in WWII. Joe had his own delivery business, delivering eggs and spent 10 years working on the railroad. He was a 65 year member of the Butlerville Lodge #135 F. & A.M. He married his high school sweetheart, Veda Long, in 1941. They enjoyed a long and happy life together until she predeceased him in 1989. His hobbies included traveling, creating mosaics, hanging out with his buddies at the Phoenix dog track, and baking delicious cookies for all his friends and his daughter's friends. Joe was a favorite of any community he made home, from Ohio, to Australia to Phoenix, he was revered by so many people. He will be sorely missed. Joe is survived by his daughters, Kay Whitacre of Phoenix, and Patti Steele (Michael) of Lebanon OH, 3 grandchildren, Lee Davis (Devon) children, Kameron, Talan, Greyson of Lebanon OH, Tyler Steele (Jessica) children Tayler, Aubrey of Waynesville OH and Corey Hall (Don) children Izzy, Pypper of Chillicothe OH. Per his request, no services will be held. Joe will be returned to Ohio to be buried next to his sweetheart, Veda. Rest in peace, Dad. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday August 25, 2012 at the Blanchester IOOF Cemetery Blanchester, OH.
