Jimmy Joe Smith, 91, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on January 8, 2022. Born on June 4, 1930, in Blanchester, Ohio, son of Christopher and Elizabeth Smith. Jim served a tour of duty in the US Army stationed in Europe during the Korean Conflict, serving as a helicopter mechanic, after which he spent his career in Broadcasting working for Metromedia the majority of his career as a DJ, Program Director, Salesman and retiring in the 1990's as General Manager. He was a Corvette Connoisseur, an avid boater and loved a nice chilled glass of Scotch. On June 7, 1952 Jim married Lois Beedle of Middletown, Ohio. They had two children who survive Jim; Jay Steven Smith and David Scott (Cathy) Smith. He is also survived by his loving wife Beverly Ann Smith; and daughter, Kimberly Ann Dowdy; Jim was a proud grandfather of Sara Smith and Jennifer Smith-Kruskamp (Keenan); great-grandfather of Amelia, Owen, and Benjamin Kruskamp. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Inurnment will take place at 11am on February 11, 2022 at Blanchester IOOF Cemetery, Blanchester, Ohio.
