Tribute to Jay's Life
Jay's life was marked by a deep and growing faith. Over the years, he learned to fully trust and love the Lord, anchoring his marriage, his family, and his purpose in Christ. His relationship with Jesus became the steady foundation of his life, and he shared God's love freely with the people around him.
Jay's strength and determination were evident in every part of his story, especially throughout his steadfast 14 year battle with cancer. He endured countless treatments, procedures, complications, and days filled with pain, yet he faced every moment with grit, courage, and an unwavering will to keep going. But alongside his strength, cancer also revealed a tender and deeply sensitive side of Jay. It softened him in the most meaningful ways. He became more emotional, more vulnerable, and more open to feeling the weight and beauty of life. He cried easily during special moments, whether it was a big game with Charlie, a quiet conversation with Kim, or a simple expression of love from his family. This tenderness was one of the unexpected and precious gifts that came through his suffering. It allowed him to love even deeper, to connect even more fully, and to let the people in his life see the softness and sincerity of his heart. Jay remained a fighter until the very end, but he also became more gentle, more reflective, and more grateful for every moment God gave him.
That same determination defined his work ethic. Jay was the hardest working man and the most devoted provider to his family. He built and grew multiple successful businesses through sheer tenacity, long hours, and a passion for watching something he started flourish into something meaningful. He was at work every single day he was able, doing whatever it took to provide stability, opportunity, and a beautiful life for the people he loved most. He had a gift for business and an entrepreneur's heart that inspired everyone who worked with him.
Jay loved his family with everything he had. His wife, Kim, was the absolute love of his life. High school sweethearts who never spent a day apart, they shared 45 years of unwavering devotion. Their marriage was a true example of commitment, partnership, and a God centered love story that inspired everyone who knew them. They were the very definition of a team.
Jay adored his two daughters, Torri and Audrey. He cherished time spent with each of them, especially their annual father and daughter trips to Pittsburgh for Steelers or Penguins games, traditions filled with laughter, memories, and heartfelt conversations. Becoming a grandfather brought a new kind of joy into Jay's heart. Lilah was his little Peachy, and Charlie was his best buddy and his entire world. The bond Jay and Charlie shared was sacred, the kind of connection only God Himself could create. Jay showed up for every sport, every moment, and he poured himself into teaching Charlie the art of fishing, building memories and a legacy that will live on forever.
As Jay's faith deepened, so did his calling to mentor young men. He had a natural, God given gift for guiding, encouraging, and helping them grow into the men God created them to be. He found deep purpose and joy in leading others to Christ, and the impact he made will continue through the lives he touched.
Jay lived life fully and passionately. He loved riding his Harley and shared countless trips with a devoted brotherhood of friends as they traveled the country together, experiencing the open road and each other's company. He cherished those friendships deeply. He was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, loyal through every season.
Jay also found deep peace on the water. The family condo at Brookville Lake was one of his favorite places on earth. He loved sitting on the deck with Kim overlooking the lake, and watching the boats go by. Time spent fishing with Charlie or relaxing on the boat brought him pure contentment and joy. Norris Lake also held special memories with his family and friends, adding to his love of lake life.
Anna Maria Island was another special place in Jay's heart. Many cherished family vacations were spent there with his parents, daughters, and grandchildren, and it remained a peaceful and meaningful place of connection and joy for him.
Above all, Jay was a family man. He loved life, loved people, and loved his family with a devotion that never wavered. His legacy is one of faith, love, loyalty, courage, and the countless lives he touched with kindness, strength, sensitivity, and a servant's heart.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
