Obituary

Jason Andrew Hester passed away on December 24, 2023 at the age of 43 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will forever be inspired by the bravery, perseverance, and unwavering faith in God that he demonstrated to the very end. Throughout the last year, he drew daily strength from Psalm 46:10 - 'Be still and know that I am God'.

Born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, Jason spent parts of his childhood in Houston and Colorado Springs before settling in Loveland, Ohio with his family. He attended Loveland schools, and graduated from Miami University in 2004 with a degree in Political Science.

Jason's work was a reflection of his many skills, talents, and interests. While working for Amazon, he quickly rose to a management role, transforming processes at his site, and at other sites in the nation. He also had a knack for starting and operating small businesses, at one point founding and running a successful ecommerce business that sold countless products on Amazon, Google, and Etsy. Jason also donated his skills and time to help others sell their own unique products online.

Jason's hobbies and interests were vast. He loved to skate and play hockey. He was a natural on the ice and passed that talent on to his nephew, Landon. Jason was also a great baseball player at Loveland High School and continued on to play at Miami Middletown for a year. His love of the game took him to numerous ball parks around the country. The Field of Dreams was next on his list and his family is planning a trip there in his honor. In addition to these things, Jason loved Colorado – hiking, camping, and skiing.

A student of History, Jason loved learning about the American Revolution and the formation of the country. He enjoyed reading about his favorite president, John Adams, or watching a mini-series about the founding fathers. As a young man, he once drove by himself to Washington DC on a whim, and spent a few joyous days exploring the monuments and museums.

But Jason's biggest love was his family. Family gatherings were special for him especially when niece and nephew, Emmie and Landon, would be there. Jason enjoyed countless fun activities with Emmie and Landon over the years, making him a very popular uncle. From Kings Island to hikes in the woods to backyard ball games, nothing made him happier than spending time with them.

Jason had special talents that his family called upon often. He was exceptional at drawing and designing things, a skill which he lovingly passed on to his niece, Emmie. He also enjoyed working on projects around the house, gardening/landscaping, and taking care of animals. Jason had many happy memories of growing up with family pets, and could often be found watching the hummingbirds that gathered around his deck on a warm Spring evening.

Jason had the biggest heart. He was saddened when things were going wrong for people he knew. He would go out of his way to take care of someone or brighten their day somehow. Luke 6:45 describes Jason perfectly: "A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart…." Jason was deeply religious and loved the Lord. His faith and trust in God never wavered during the year he fought his illness and he never complained. He gave thanks to God for his many blessings until he could speak no longer.

Jason's family is so proud of him. He was always a kind and caring person who cared deeply about everyone around him. He showed incredible courage and character during his year-long battle with cancer. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed by those who loved him.

Jason is survived by his loving parents, Gary and Lynda (Thompson) Hester, as well as his brother Jeff (Melissa) Hester and sister Sarah Hester, with whom he shared close bonds. He is also survived by the apples of his eye, his niece and nephew, Emmie and Landon Hester. He is survived by his grandparents Delores Hester and Charles and Sondra Thompson, his aunts and uncles Tim (Karie) Hester, Mike Hester, Dave (Haihai) Thompson, Ellen Thompson, Carol Freibott and many cousins. Jason was predeceased by his grandfather William Hester, Uncle Jeff Hester, and Uncle Bill Freibott.

A private family funeral will be held.
