IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice Lynn
Dozier
January 4, 1948 – March 23, 2024
Janice Lynn Dozier, was the embodiment of living life in full color. Born to the world on January 4, 1948, in the bustling town of Pontiac, Michigan, Jan's story began as the cherished daughter of William E. and Jeanette R. Ferguson. She painted her early years with the vibrant hues of Orange, California, following a youthful journey westward, where she later emerged a proud graduate of Villa Park High School.
Janice was the heart and soul of her family, the loving sister to William N. (Kathy) Ferguson, Jeffrey Lynn (Debbie) Ferguson, and the late Kevin D. (Brenda) Ferguson, and Sandra L. Christian. Janice, or "FERG'' as they affectionately called one another, was a protective older sister to her brothers and the trusted confidant of her sister. She was the keeper of all the best-kept secrets of her siblings.
A true California girl through and through, Janice basked in the sun-kissed glow of the beach, her blonde hair shimmering like the Pacific. She was the epitome of west coast cool, with a feisty, fearless spirit that matched her brave, strong heart. Jan did things her way, on her terms, and her zest for life was as infectious as her laughter.
Jan's artistic soul expressed itself in every brush stroke, every crafted piece, and each melody she played on the piano. Her love for music was only rivaled by her talent for baking and decorating cookies, and her unique gifts were as delightful as they were unexpected. Janice's creativity knew no bounds, and she shared this passion with everyone she touched.
Known affectionately as "Lady J", she loved with a ferocity that was unmatched, especially when it came to her children. Janice may not have been rich in material wealth, but she was a billionaire in what truly mattered. She gifted her children with resilience, confidence, and the courage to chase their wildest dreams. Her legacy lives on through Jennifer Joy (Michael) Farmer; Michael Quinton (LeeAnna) Dozier, and Leah Christine Dozier Walker, as well as in the memories of her youngest son, Joseph Christopher Dozier, who left this world too soon.
As a grandmother, Janice was a superhero without a cape. Her ten grandchildren and great-grandson knew her as the keeper of sweet treats, the matriarch of fun and games, with the scent of cookies in her hair. Her spirit, humor, and heart were as genuine as they come, leaving an indelible mark on Jillian A. Farmer, Quinton A. Dozier, Jacqueline "DeeDee" P. Farmer, Patricia Symone Dozier, Jayde E. Farmer, Janae D. Farmer, Miles I. Dozier, Alexandra Josephine Walker, Adriana Leeanne Walker, Jacob M. Farmer, and great-grandson Eli Joseph Diaz.
On March 23, 2024, after years of bravely facing multiple health challenges, Janice's vibrant life came to a close in Maineville, Ohio. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love and care of her devoted children and daughter in-law who ensured her comfort and peace.
Jan leaves behind a tapestry of memories for her former husband, Howard "Michael" Dozier Jr., her nieces, nephews, her children's friends, and anyone who was lucky enough to cross her path.
As the family prepares to celebrate Jan's extraordinary life, they are planning for a gathering on a Southern California beach, where the waves echo her laughter and the horizon is as boundless as her spirit.
Janice Lynn Dozier's legacy is not just in the stories that will be told or the laughter that will echo in our memory, but in the way her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild will carry themselves forward in this world. Her life was a masterclass in love, art, and the pure joy of being unapologetically oneself. And that, folks, is a wrap on an incredible show that was Janice's life.
