The following obituary was written by Jan Schmitt-Vickers. Jan (nee Cain) was born April 29, 1951. Preceded in death by her parents Diane and Donald Cain. Survived by loving husband Wally Vickers. Three amazing daughters Amanda (Hollis) Bottleson, Megan Schmitt, and Courtney (Greg) Berling. Children Ben and Emma Vickers. Grandmother of Mary Kate and Emily Siderits, Abigail Bottleson, John Tyler Bottleson, and Madelyn Cain Berling. Additionally survived by brothers Jack (Janeen) Cain, Dennis (Patsy) Cain, Tom Cain, and sister Sandy (Cain) Fritzsch. Special sister Kathy Kinane. Her two favorite pets: Dog Daisy and horse Marquesa. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Jan earned her BS Degree from the University of Cincinnati and her Masters Degree from Miami University. She taught Junior High Language Arts in the Mount Healthy School District from1973-1980. In 1982 Jan founded Youthland Academy which is currently the largest daycare facility in the Greater Cincinnati area. Youthland also has centers in Kentucky and Florida. Her main objective when she founded Youthland was to have a job which provided her the ability to be with her children. Jan was an extremely active vibrant lady. Her passions included her friends, tennis, horseback riding, and love of her life Wally. Jan Schmitt-Vickers wrote her own obituary for her peace of mind. "She did not want the obituary to say she fought a courageous battle against cancer," said her husband, Wally Vickers. "She didn't want cancer to be the theme. She wanted her life Family suggests donations be directed to the Warren Co. Humane Society, 230 Cook Rd., Lebanon, OH 45036. The family has suggested that any flowers sent be white. Jan's celebration of life is a white themed event.
