Obituary

James Wallace "Buck" Hamilton peacefully ended his life's journey on March 19, 2024 after 84 years. Buck was born March 24, 1939, in Lake City (Anderson County) Tennessee to Claude and Azie Bell Foust Hamilton.

His early years were spent in Lake City, Tennessee where he attended Anderson County Schools. During these years he accepted Jesus as his way of life and became a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church.

After school he began his career as a truck driver driving with his brothers, Tom, Ray, and Sam. He worked for 45 years as a trucker with various trucking companies: Ohio Southern, Newman and Pemberton, A.J. Metler. Later he moved to Cincinnati where he worked with Dixie Ohio Express, Ryder Truck Lines and PIE. In 1990, he began his employment with Roadway Express, Columbus, Ohio. He retired from Roadway Express in 2005.

In January 1973, he married Helen Deloris Mayes and moved to Loveland, Ohio where he spent the remainder of his life. He and Helen have one daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Hamilton, a counselor at Loveland High School.

Buck is a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Kenwood, Ohio. He is a Mason, Scottish Rite, and a Shriner.

Buck is survived by his wife, Helen, a daughter Jamie, son-in-law Jason Alan Durden, and the light of his life granddaughter Lola Elizabeth Durden. He is also survived by his sisters Joann Grubisic, Phyllis Miller, Helen Phillips, a brother Sam (Billie) Hamilton and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Denny Wade "Tom", Elmer Ray "Tater"; sisters Mildred Sweat, Mary Hamilton, Ruth Carter, Bennie Lou Curry, and Wilma Cardwell.

Throughout his lifetime and travels, Buck made many acquaintances and friends. He often told stories of his trucking years and his many friends. He enjoyed and cherished every second of his life.

Family and friends will be received from 11 AM - 1 PM on Friday, March 22 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140. Graveside Service and burial to follow at Kerr Cemetery, Symmes Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Buck may be directed to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church , 8645 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, OH  45242.
