Obituary

James Thomas “Tom” Roberts of Batavia, OH passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, at the age of 77, after a long battle with cancer. Tom was born on April 6, 1949, in Falmouth, KY.

Tom was the beloved husband of 47 years to Debbie (nee Settles) Roberts, loving father of Kacey (Jeff) Kersting, Jessica (Stephen Withers) Roberts, Shelly Roberts and Thomas Scott (Tiffany) Roberts, proud grandpa of Norah Kersting, Nicholas Kersting, Hayden Roberts, Lilah Roberts, Abigail Withers, Isabella Delbello and Anthony Roberts, special uncle to Tara (Steve) Miller and uncle-grandpa to Logan Miller and Annika Miller, dear brother of Ron (Jenny) Roberts, Larry (Darlene) Roberts, Terry Jarvis and the late Gary Roberts, brother-in-law of Robin Roberts, and cherished son of the late Charles Henry and Stella Mae (nee Perrin) Roberts. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many dear friends.

A 1967 graduate of Goshen High School, Tom retired from Ford Motor Company in 2012 after a successful career as a millwright. Throughout his life, he was passionate about supporting young people, coaching countless athletes, and serving as President of the Southern Ohio Softball League in the 1990s. Tom enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether fishing, golfing, or hunting grouse. His greatest joy, however, was his family. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, faithfully attending their sporting events and celebrating their accomplishments. Family vacations to the Florida Panhandle and Wisconsin created treasured memories that he held close to his heart.

Friends will be received from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday, October 17 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, where services will begin at 12 Noon on Saturday.
