James George Harrison was born February, 1915 in Jacksonville, Florida to William Harrison and Ada Giles Harrison. He departed this life on Monday, August 6, 2007. James moved to South Carolina with his family as a young boy and years later ultimately settled in Milford, Ohio. James was united in marriage to Ruth Fitzpatrick Harrison in 1957. James was a devoted family man and spent many hours with members of his immediate family as well as his friends. He was an active member at his beloved church, Calvary Methodist Church in Milford, Ohio for many years. James was a man who enjoyed his work and it showed. In 1980, James retired from General Electric in Evendale, Ohio after 28 years of service where he worked in engineering and development. James was one of the first individuals hired when the plant opened in Evendale and as such rarely missed work. James was a devoted and passionate gardener of plants, flowers and especially, vegetables. Because of his love of gardening James had the pride of the neighborhood vegetable garden. He loved the outdoors and was most at home fishing for bass or croppy. He as also an avid bird hunter and enjoyed the company of his many, loyal Springer Spaniels over the years. There were newspaper articles written about James and his love of hunting. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Ruth; his parents; brothers Grant, William, Delton, Ulysses, and sister Estelle. He leaves to mourn his passing a son, Philip, Grandchildren Melissa and James, Nephew Thomas Sidney, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
