Obituary

James P. Bowman, affectionately known as Jimmy B., passed away after a long-fought battle with ALS on December 21, 2024, at the age of 68. When first diagnosed with ALS, Jim adopted the mantra "Just because life isn't fair, doesn't mean it can't be good." He carried this positivity throughout his battle but lived it well before his diagnosis. Whether it was helping coach his children/grandchildren in sports, being a soccer referee for many years, tearing it up on the tennis court, or volunteering at his grandchildren's schools, Jim always brightened the day of everyone he met with his winning personality and huge smile. He couldn't even take a nice leisurely run around the neighborhood without stopping to say hello to the many neighbors out and about on his typical route. He was known by many names throughout his life, so whether you knew him as James, Jim, Jimmy B, Jiz, Uncle Jimmy, or Jimothy, his favorite monikers would always be husband, Dad, and especially Grampa.

Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Nancy D. Bowman; his children Matt (Roxanne) Bowman, Katie (Paul) Statham, and Stephen (Meghan) Bowman; his 6 grandchildren Kyra, Sophie, and Bryce Bowman, James and Lily Statham, and Hailey Bowman; his mother Nancy A. Bowman; siblings Tom (Linda) Bowman, Matt (Claudia) Bowman, and Beth (Dan) Renner; and a slew of cousins, nieces, and nephews that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bowman.

In typical Jimmy B. fashion, and to take a line from his favorite singer Frank Sinatra, he declared "I did it my way." Instead of having a traditional service, Jim wished to have a celebration in his honor so that all those who were drawn in by his charismatic good nature could come and share their love and memories of him with his family. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held from 12pm to 4pm on March 16, 2025 at Manor House, 7440 Mason Montgomery Rd, Mason OH 45040.

Memorial contributions in Jim's memory can be directed towards ALS United Ohio, ( alsohio.org ) 1170 Old Henderson Road #221, Columbus, OH 43220 or Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263-3597.
