MSG Jackie Lee "Sarge" Smith of Goshen, OH. Born on June 8, 1940 in Notomine, WV. Went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the age of 75. Beloved husband of 53 years to Wanda (nee Lovejoy) Smith. Loving father of Timothy (Wendy) Smith, Teresa (Tim) Tanner, Roger (Helena) Smith, Paul (Becky) Smith, Charles (Elizabeth) Smith and Crystal (Lonnie Z.) Bennett. Caring grandfather of Chet Smith, Ashley Wilson, Emma Wilson, Molly Gross, Kayla Bradley, Michael Tanner, Karlee Otey, Kathryn Otey, Brittany Raye Smith, Autumn Smith, Allyssa Howard, Morgan Howard, Savannah Smith, Caleb Smith, Ethan Smith, Jacob Smith, Elizabeth "Grace" Bennett, Alexander Bennett and Quentin Bennett. Proud great-grandfather of Blaze Otey. Dear brother of Franklin Smith and the late James Smith, Bill Smith, Harry Smith, Larry Smith and Ruth Smith. Cherished son of the late Harry and Laura (nee Walls) Smith. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Jackie was a highly decorated soldier who proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He also worked for 18 years with the United States Postal Service. Jackie graduated from Poca High School in Poca, West Virginia in 1958. Friends will be received on Friday, Oct. 23, 6 - 8 PM at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, where services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 10 AM. Interment with military honors, Goshen Cemetery.
