IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack
Lohr
November 8, 1938 – July 26, 2025
In Loving Memory of Jack Allen Lohr (November 8, 1938 -July 26, 2025)
Jack was born on Tuesday, November 8, 1938, a rainy chilly day in Cincinnati, OH. He was the youngest child, and only boy, of the late Robert "Tip" Lohr and Bess Marie Lohr (nee Perry). He was preceded in death by his sisters & brothers-in-law, Gertrude & Wib Howell and Bea & Junior Burton and his son-in-law Greg Young. He is survived by his children: Jacqui Young, Lance (Peggy) and Chris (Cathy) Lohr. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael (Jessica) and Nicholas (Katherine "Katie"), Kaitlyn Parmley (Daniel), Olivia Phillips (Alex), Elena Cantelmo (Brandon), Henry and Max Lohr and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is also survived by his long-time companion, Linda Slusher (nee Wisby), who cared for him lovingly throughout his older years. He leaves behind many friends and coworkers who will miss him greatly.
As the youngest and only boy, Jack was pampered and doted on by his mother and sisters. His father was a part-time farmer and full-time machinist, working hard to provide a good life for his family. As a child, Jack contracted polio and was nursed back to health by the loving care of his two much older sisters.
He attended Loveland Schools and played basketball and football. After graduation, he started working for The Cincinnati Milling Machine Company (later Cincinnati Milacron) and received an associate's degree in engineering from the Ohio College of Applied Science. He became a Field Technician and gradually worked his way up to Sales. During this time, he served in the US Army Reserves, discharged with the rank of Stab Sergeant at Fort Knox, KY. He also got married and had 2 of his 3 children. In 1968, he was transferred to the Syracuse, NY sales office, where his 3rd child was born.
In 1969, he was transferred to the Southfield, MI Sales Office and he continued to advance. He left Cincinnati Milacron in the early 1970's, going on to work for Belmont Tools and Unimation. At the beginning of 1979, he accepted a position of North American Sales Manager for Cincinnati Milacron's new robotic division, which started a new phase in his life.
He left Milacron in the early 80's and went to work for Prab Robots, based in Kalamazoo, MI. While at Prab, he became President of the Robotics International Association (RIA). He traveled extensively, spreading the new technology of Robots to the industrial fields. He left Prab and moved on to several other companies such as Motoman, Inc. and Adept. Jack
retired in 2010 to relax and to pursue his great goal.
One of Jack's great goals in life was to visit all 50 States. While he was working, he was able to accomplish most of this, but his list was completed with a spectacular Alaskan vacation. He loved travel and did so extensively. He didn't limit himself to just the USA, he also went to Japan, Sweden, England, France, Italy and Germany.
Beyond travel, Jack enjoyed dining out, attending many social events, and spending time with his friends. He frequently went to reunions, both school and work, attended two churches and enjoyed his time with friends and family. He will be sorely missed by all.
