Obituary

Jack H. Bales, 70, of Newtonsville, died Monday, August 5, 2013 at his home with his family at his bedside. Born at his grandmother's home in Jackson County, Kentucky on December 13, 1942, he was the son the late Mark Bales, Jr. and Leona (Hurst) Bales. He lived in Clermont County nearly all of his life and was a 1963 graduate of Clermont Northeastern High School. Jack married the former Carole Davis, also of Clermont County. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50th anniversary next month. Jack was a skilled machinist and worked at the Cincinnati Gear Company in Fairfax for 38 years, serving as a supervisor for the majority of that time. After he retired, Jack kept quite busy and enjoyed playing golf with his brother Jimmy. In recent years, Jack and Carole were frequent visitors to local car shows and "cruise-ins", driving his prized '57 Chevy. Mr. Bales is survived by a daughter, Renee Quinlan and her husband David of Grapevine, Texas, and a son, Steve Bales and his wife Terra (Teaney) of Milford. Additionally, three grandchildren survive: Michael Quinlan of Denver, Colorado; and Sarah and Kristen Bales of Milford. Through the years, Jack enjoyed taking his grandkids on adventures in the woods around his house, biking with them, and snow sledding. A brother, Jimmy Bales of Fayetteville, a sister, Betty (Bales) Kendrick of Batavia, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, preceding him in death were a sister, Joyce (Bales) Joslin, and a brother, Kenneth Bales. Visitation will be held on friday evening at the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home (1668 State Route 28 in Goshen) where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Rick McKinney, pastor of the Williams Corner Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be at the Graceland Memorial Gardens.
