Herbert E. Beloved husband of Audrey M. McGee. Devoted father of Kathy (Dan) Wills of Loveland, OH, Gary McGee of Portland, OR, Ron McGee of New Richmond, OH and Janet (Len) Short of Loveland, OH. Dearest grandfather to Nicole (Travis) Meece of Amelia, OH, Kristin Wills of Loveland, OH, Bradford Short of Cincinnati, OH and Caitlyn Short of Clifton, OH. Beloved great-grandfather to Ally and Andrew Meece of Amelia, OH. Born February 26, 1928 in Orlando, Florida, died after 84 years on this earth on September 5, 2012 one day after his 64th wedding anniversary. Herb and Audrey were married September 4, 1948 at Loveland Presbyterian Church, Loveland, OH. They enjoyed 58 years at their present home on Guinea Pike in Loveland, after moving there in 1954 where they raised their four children. Herb was a devoted employee of Sohio (now B.P.) where he worked tirelessly for 30 years managing three services stations. He was able to retire at the age of 55 and enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement. He busied himself remodeling his home, playing his guitar and taking great comfort and joy in his children and grandchildren, being blessed that most of his family chose to settle very close by. Herb also enjoyed travel and made it to his goal of seeing all 50 states traveling all over the country where he tent camped in the early years with his four small children, then traveled by RV in his later years. He was finally able to complete his goal when he traveled to Alaska and to Hawaii via cruises. Herb enjoyed playing his guitar at local bluegrass festivals and met many good friends and fellow musicians including Tennessee Bob and Letha as well as countless others. His love of music and talent for guitar live on in his grandson, Bradford. Herb was a quiet man, a gentle man and a great man to his devoted family who will cherish forever the greatest gift he could ever bestow...Love. Family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. in the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home 129 N. Riverside Dr., Loveland, OH 45140, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. Interment Rose Hill Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Metzger officiating.
