Helen Kathleen "Kathy" Regruth, a loving mother and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2023 at Twin Lakes Community home. She was 85.

Kathy was born on June 29, 1938, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Harold ("Mac") and Helen A. McGrath. She was the second of three children. Kathy grew up in Kankakee, Illinois, and graduated from St. Patrick Central High School. After graduating from Webster College, she worked in the Market Research Dept. at Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati during the early 1960s when she met and married Joseph Charles Regruth in 1964.

Kathy and Joe enjoyed a 50-year marriage before Joe's passing in 2014. Together, they raised a family of four children. In 1982, Joe was transferred to Brussels, Belgium, as part of an assignment with Procter & Gamble. While he tended to his demanding work, Kathy was responsible for shepherding her children, ranging in age from eight to 17 years old, through a new life in a foreign country, which she ably accomplished with love and good humor.

The four years she spent in Brussels allowed Kathy to pursue one of her greatest passions, travel. Whether taking in theatre in London, fine restaurants in Paris, art and architecture in Rome or safaris in Africa, Kathy loved seeing new sights and experiencing new cultures.

After successfully raising and marrying off her four children, Kathy used her new-found free time to pursue another passion, art. She became an adept water colorist (particularly of lighthouses, one of her favorite subjects) and later served as a docent at the Cincinnati Art Museum, where she guided school children through the museum, sharing and inspiring a love of the arts.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Joseph. She is survived by her children Joseph Jr. (Deanna), John (Jennifer), Chris (Tammy) and Jennifer (Ken) Crites, and by her nine grandchildren Jackie, Carson, Trey, Jared, Hayden, Joel, Casey, Jack and Tanner.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Twin Lakes and Hospice of Cincinnati for their excellent care.

Family and friends will be received from 10 AM - 12 noon on Monday, July 24 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140, where services will be held at 12 noon. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
