CHAMBERLIN Granville H., 95, of Otterbein Retirement Home in Lebanon, Ohio and formerly of Jefferson Township, Midland, Ohio, passed away August 24, 2007 having lived a full life and being loved by his family as a good Christian man. Granville had been a resident of Otterbein since 1996 when he and his wife Louella, who died in 2001, left the family farm on Chamberlin Road. Granville was born November 3, 1911 in Jefferson Township the son of Jacob and Ida Wallace Chamberlin. Mr. Chamberlin graduated from Jefferson High School in 1929. Granville was very active in sports at Jefferson High School playing basketball and baseball. He played on the team that the year after he graduated (1930) went to the semi-finals of the state tournament. Granville attended Wilmington College and then became a full-time farmer. Granville and Louella Plank were married on February 16, 1935 and lived on the family farm for 57 years. Mr. Chamberlin wa a long time membe of the Jefferson Township School Board, served as a Jefferson Township Trustee and for many years served as a Board Member of Clinton Landmark Cooperative. Granville was a member for over 50 years of the Westboro United Methodist Church having served on numerous committees and was the official "church bell ringer" for years. He was also a member of Clinton County Farm Bureau, the South End Farm Bureau Advisory Council and the I.O.O.F. Fithian Lodge #373 and Eudora Rebekah Lodge #98. Othe memberships included the Blanchester Rotary Club, where he was active in helping with the Blanchester Soybean Festival and the Ohio Soybean Association. Granville was an avid checker player and enjoyed this hobby with his friend, Bob Crane at Otterbein. Mr. Chamberlin, after his retirement from full-time farming, continued to be active on the farm helping his son, Marvin. He is survived by a daughter, Shirley Ledford of Westboro Road in Midland, Ohio, twin sons, Melvin (Brenda) Chamberlin of Beaver, West Virginia, Marvin (Joann) Chamberlin of Sycamore Road in Midland, Ohio, and grandchildren, Sandy (Larry) Kretchek of Wilmington, Ohio, Marty (Jennifer) Chamberlin of Milford, Ohio, Amanda (Rodney) Plymale of Reesville, Doug (Rose) Chamberlin of West Virginia, Pam (Dale) Powell of South Carolina and Lisa Vasser (Jason) Redden of Oklahoma. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many good friends from Clinton County and from Otterbein Retirement Home, which includes Robert Crane, his roomate for several years after his wife's death, Mamie Stockert and many wonderful employees of Otterbein Retirement Community. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Louella, a daughter, Anna Faye Vassar, deceased 1979 and Marie Eileen Chamberlin, deceased 2003. One brother, Luther (Jean) Chamberlin, two sisters, Bertha (Everett) Osborn and Edith (John) Tucker. Funeral services are under the arrangement of Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, Blanchester, Ohio. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 28, from 6 PM to 9 PM at the funeral home and the funeral will be on Wednesday, August 29, 11 AM at the Westboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Caddell officiating.
