Gifford Augustus Morey passed away Wednesday, May 30th, 2018 at age 95 with his sons by his side. He joins his beloved wife Ida Mary Krum Morey, his parents Martha Gifford Hedges Morey and Harry Augustus Morey, his sister Mariba "Chips" Ermina Morey Hipe and his brother Sheridan "Shay" Hedges Morey, in eternal peace.
He is survived by his three sons Jay, Paul and Peter, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Giff was a devoted husband and father who served our country as a marine, stationed in the Philippines in WWII. He was a gentle, kind and patient man with a huge heart, who quietly guided his sons by example and taught them the meaning of family and unconditional love. Giff had a passion for skiing, golf, camping, and family vacations. Whether first in line at 8 a.m. waiting for the ski lift to open, or watching the morning mist rise off the first tee at the Woodstock Country Club, he was tireless in his pursuit for us to experience it all.
Giff and Ida were inseparable. His early retirement allowed them to travel and share the experience of new places. Golfing was a shared passion. Their devotion to each other was the hallmark of our family.
Giff's legacy, whether as a husband, father, "grampy", or friend, lies in his gentle nature and the values he instilled in us all.
You will live in our hearts forever. A great man and a life well lived. We love you and we miss you!
